Classic & Exotic Car
Towing in Houston, TX
Your collector car, vintage vehicle, or exotic sports car deserves to be transported with the precision, care, and expertise it demands. Soft straps only. Flatbed always. Zero compromises.
Why Classic and Exotic Cars Demand Different Treatment
A classic 1969 Corvette Stingray is not a 2018 Toyota Camry. A Porsche 911 GT3 is not a Honda Civic. Yet many towing companies treat them identically — chains on the frame, hooks under the bumpers, dragged onto a flatbed without a second thought about the irreplaceable paint, chrome, or body panels they are scratching.
Rescue Towing Group LLC operates differently. We have transported classic Corvettes, Ford Model A vehicles, Lexus RC F sports cars, Porsche Cayennes, and dozens of other collector and exotic vehicles across Houston, Katy, Fulshear, Richmond, and Brookshire. Our approach is methodical, our equipment is correct, and our drivers understand the difference between moving a daily driver and transporting a piece of automotive history.
“A towing company that does not know how to handle your classic car can cause more damage in 10 minutes than 50 years of careful ownership.”

Our Collector Car Loading Process
Every step of our loading and transport process for classic and exotic vehicles is designed to eliminate any possibility of contact between our equipment and your vehicle’s paint, chrome, glass, or body panels.
Step-by-Step: How We Load a Classic or Exotic Car
- Ground-level inspection first. Before touching your vehicle, the driver walks around it, notes any existing condition issues, and photographs it from all angles. This protects you and ensures any pre-existing marks are documented.
- Clear the approach path. We check the flatbed ramp angle against your vehicle’s front spoiler, splitter, or air dam clearance before the vehicle ever moves. Low-clearance vehicles may require the ramp to be nearly flat for a shallow approach.
- Drive or winch — never push or drag. If the vehicle can be started, it is driven onto the flatbed by the driver or owner. If not, we use a winch with a soft bridle attached to approved tow hooks — never to the bumper, body, or frame directly.
- Soft straps only at wheel hubs. We use soft loop tie-down straps attached at each wheel hub or at manufacturer-specified anchor points. No chains make contact with any part of the vehicle. The straps are rated for your vehicle’s weight and then doubled for collector vehicles.
- Wheel chocks for stability. Rubber wheel chocks are placed in front of and behind each tire to prevent any fore-aft movement on the flatbed during transport.
- Final inspection before departure. Both driver and owner walk around the vehicle on the flatbed, confirm strap tension, and verify no contact points between straps and painted or chrome surfaces. Only then do we depart.
What Damages Classic Cars During Improper Towing
Understanding what can go wrong with improper towing of classic and exotic cars helps you ask the right questions before you allow any tow company to touch your vehicle.
Chain Contact on Painted Surfaces
Standard tow chains used by many companies are made of hardened steel with rough link surfaces. When they contact a classic car’s painted frame rails, rockers, or underbody components — even briefly — they cause scratches that penetrate primer and bare metal. On a restored vehicle with custom paint, this damage can cost thousands to repair and may be irreplaceable if the paint was a rare color or custom mix.
Wrong Approach Angle
Exotic cars with front splitters, diffusers, or lowered ride heights require the flatbed ramp to be set at a specific angle before loading. An inexperienced driver who brings the ramp down at a standard angle will scrape the front air dam or splitter on every loading attempt. A Porsche 911 GT3, Audi R8, or heavily lowered classic muscle car cannot be loaded at the same ramp angle as a pickup truck.
Incorrect Tie-Down Points
Many classic vehicles do not have modern tow eyes or wheel hub anchor points. Attaching straps to the wrong location — suspension arms, brake lines, exhaust components, or decorative chrome pieces — can cause structural damage that is invisible until the vehicle is driven again. Our drivers research the correct attachment points for every classic and exotic vehicle before loading.
Wheel-Lift on Any Rear-Drive Exotic
Many classic and exotic sports cars are rear-wheel drive with a live rear axle or limited-slip differential. Wheel-lifting the rear of these vehicles while the front wheels roll on the ground causes the entire driveline to turn, stressing the differential, transmission, and driveshaft unnecessarily. All exotic and classic cars — regardless of drivetrain — are transported on our flatbed with all four wheels off the ground.
